You have to act, so that some inner transformation takes place. The teachings must become real for you.
Lama Yeshe, “The Bliss of Inner Fire”
The point of studying Buddhist teachings is to internalize them and experience them as something relevant to our own lives. How to do it? By contemplating the teaching topics in our meditation practice and by discussing them with other students to gain a deeper understanding, until we are able to apply the teachings to everyday situations. The inner transformation takes place when we break our old habitual patterns and start to think and act differently.
This course will provide you an opportunity to meditate on the Tibetan Buddhist gradual path to enlightenment, called the lam-rim. We will start each evening with a guided meditation, which will contain an element of concentration and then proceed to an analytical part focused on a Lam-rim topic. After the meditation and a short tea break, we will meet in smaller groups to discuss the topic and our experiences in more detail.
The topics will follow Ven. Robina Courtin’s Thursday course “The Gradual and Complete Path to Enlightenment” and those attending this course can use the Tuesday discussion and practice to support and deepen their knowledge. However, it is also suitable as a stand-alone practice for students who are already familiar with the lam-rim and are looking for an opportunity to meditate together and exchange with dharma friends in a fun, informal atmosphere.
