In this module we will see how complex and detailed the teachings on karma are.
But tonight let’s start with a few definitions. Karma is defined as the law of cause and effect. It is also defined as action, as well as intention. This is how it works: karmic actions, which are impermanent and are changing from moment to moment, are created by mental karma. This mental karma is the sum total of all the karmic imprints that have been left on our mindstream by our previous karmic actions, in an endless and beginningless chain. When the conditions come together, these imprints ripen into a positive or negative experience, which produces new karmic imprints. This is the seemingly endless cycle of karma.
