May all mother sentient beings, limitless as space, have happiness and the causes of happiness!
May they be free from suffering and the causes of suffering!
May they not be separated from the happiness that is free from sorrow!
May they rest in equanimity, free from attachment and aversion!

The four immeasurables are four boundless, limitless qualities fundamental for anyone who embarks on a Buddhist path – a path that leads to the ultimate freedom. These four immeasurable qualities are loving kindness, compassion, joy and equanimity. Each on its own is a complete practice leading to happiness, joy and peace, together these qualities are the bases of the aspirational budhichitta.  Over three months, we will study, contemplate on the essence of the four immeasurables.  The evening will start with a thirty minute of shamatha mediation, follow by a thirty minutes of teachings of Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo (previously recorded) and a short discussion, the evening ends with a guided meditation on the four immeasurables.

About Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo

Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo was born in 1943 and raised in London. She became a Buddhist while still in her teens, and at the age of twenty traveled to India by boat. In 1964, she was one of the first Westerners to be ordained as Tibetan Buddhist monastic. The international bestseller ‘Cave in the Snow’ chronicles her twelve years of seclusion and meditation living alone in a remote Himalayan cave. In 1999, deeply concerned with the plight of Buddhist nuns, she established Dongyu Gatsal Ling Nunnery in India.

Tenzin Palmo now spends most of the year at Dongyu Gatsal Ling Nunnery and occasionally tours to give teachings and raise funds for the ongoing needs of the DGL nuns and Nunnery. To find out more about Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo’s extraordinary life, please visit www.tenzinpalmo.com or read one of her books „Cave in the Snow“, „Reflections on a mountain lake“ or „Into the heart of Life“.
