Shamatha means “to abide in peace”. It is the practice of tranquility or stabilizing meditation. Shamatha meditation helps us cultivate the skills needed to develop a focused, calm and relaxed mind.

Please join us on Monday evenings for one hour of silent and audio-guided meditation. The audios are provided by Ven. Mary Reavey, a Buddhist nun who has led many Shamatha retreats and guides meditations with a great sense of warmth and wisdom. The meditation sessions will frequently refer to Lama Alan Wallace’s book “The Attention Revolution” (ISBN 9780861712762). We warmly invite everyone to join. Meditating in a group gives support to each other, and keeps this practice alive. This is a group practice and not an introductory course, but beginners are always welcome to join.
