Material development only gives us sensory pleasure, but to be lastingly happy we need to develop our minds. We need calm minds.”
– His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama
Shamatha means ‘to abide in peace’. It is the practice of tranquility or stabilizing meditation – a method of allowing the mind to be more focused, calm and relaxed.
Please join us on Friday mornings for an hour of silent Shamatha meditation. You will notice that meditating in a group has a great effect on your energy and concentration. It will also help you motivate yourself to carve out this special time in the week just for you and your mind.
Most of the hour will be spent in silent meditation to help us to develop more stability and clarity within our minds. This is a group practice and not an introductory course, but beginners are always welcome to join.
