This series with Venerable Tenzin Gendun is from May 13-20.  We will learn about the Mantras and Blessing the Speech.  During this two-week series this is a time to listen and then ask questions about what you thought you knew about reciting different mantras, including blessing the speech.

There are two topics in this series. Tonight is session 1.

Tonight, we will be guided by Venerable Tenzin Gendun on Mantras Protect Your Mind: Join us in learning about why we recite specific mantras and the meaning behind each. In Buddhist practice, mantras represent enlightening speech and when repeated, protect the mind from destructive states. Mantras also shape the breath and consequently the subtle energy-winds, enabling one to bring the winds under control for use in meditation practice.

Originally from Sri Lanka, Venerable Tenzin Gendun grew up and studied in the UK where he graduated with a degree in fine art.  While traveling to India in 1991, he met Tibetan Buddhism through the kindness of Lama Zopa Rinpoche and His Holiness the Dalai Lama.  In 1992, he was ordained and went on to serve in FPMT centers in New Zealand before settling in France at Nalanda Monastery in 2000. Having completed the FPMT Basic and Master study programs, he is a registered FPMT teacher and has since taught and led retreats in Europe.
