Written by the Gelug-lineage holder Lama Tsongkhapa, the short text describes how we can generate and meditate on the three higher trainings of ‘Renunciation’, ‘Bodhicitta’ and ‘the Wisdom of Emptiness’. Due to the simplicity of the text, Buddha Shakyamuni’s practical message becomes deeply meaningful to everybody, whether they are new to Buddhism or an advanced practitioner. You can download the root text in English here. To escape from suffering and find everlasting happiness, we have to study and practice the teachings on the path to enlightenment. The teachings of the Buddha were first formulated into what we call the Lam-Rim (The Steps of the Path) by the great Atisha (982-1054). An essential feature of the lam-rim is its division into three principal aspects: renunciation, right view and bodhichitta. Happiness, Renunciation & Contentment

Lhagsam Tibetan Meditation Gablerstrasse 51, Zurich, Switzerland

Join us for onsite teachings with Venerable Tenzin Michael and in his company get to know how you can achieve lasting happiness and contentment when giving up on creating the causes of suffering. The event is onsite and streaming live on YouTube for those unable to join us in the center. WHEN: Wednesday June 1, 7.00 – 9.00 pm CETWHERE: Onsite onlyLEVEL: All levels; the course is especially aimed at beginners During the evening, Ven. Tenzin Michael will explain how people usually look for happiness in worldly, material possessions, but how happiness is a state of mind that can be cultivated independently of any circumstances outside the mind. Buddhist doctrine teaches that happiness comes from giving up on everything that leads to suffering. The more our mind becomes peaceful and calm, the more we will experience freedom from disturbing thoughts, and the more we’ll achieve a pleasurable life. When thinking about renunciation, we usually picture a person giving up oneverything that gives us pleasure, and maybe even on some renunciatestriving to live a miserable life in order to achieve future happiness: Thismistaken view will be debunked during the teachings. - Ven. Tenzin Michael Contentment is understood as satisfaction with what we have, and Venerable will teach us about Lojong, Buddhist Mind Training, in order for us to appreciate what we have: Our health and our current situation, while being able to rejoice in others’ happiness. The event includes a talk, a guided meditation and time for questions and discussion. About the Teacher Ven. Tenzin Michael is a Buddhist monk, born in Switzerland. At the age of 24, he visited Asia for the first time and learned Buddhism hands-on in the monasteries of Himalaya. In the years to follow, he travelled Asia and his interest in Buddhism kept growing. Glück, Entsagung und Zufriedenheit

Lhagsam Tibetan Meditation Gablerstrasse 51, Zurich, Switzerland

WHEN: Dienstag, 3. Mai, 7.00 – 9.00 pm CETWHERE: onsite / vor OrtLEVEL: Offen für alle, auch Anfänger LANGUAGE: Deutsch (the same event will be held in English on June 1).
